12 Days of Cheesy Holiday TV Movies - Day 4

Grade: B+
Channel: Hallmark (apparently I'm stuck on this channel)

I don't have a whole lot to say about this one.  Single mom, precocious kid, dating the wrong guy, etc. etc. etc.  A stranger enters their lives, is misjudged at first but ends up falling for the single mom.  She makes a grand gesture to stop him from leaving. Then all's well that ends well.

What makes this one different?  Two things: 1) Henry Winkler and 2) I was in lust with her house. No, I was actually in love with the house.  Sadly there are no pictures online but you'll have to trust me on this.  It's exactly the appliances, colors, etc. that I would pick.  So cute.  Anywhoodle, onto Mr. Winkler.  Sometimes he can be a bit too, uh, schmaltzy in his roles.  Maybe I'm thinking of his character on Royal Pains and how ingratiating he is.  It's well known that Winkler is absolutely the nicest guy in Hollywood.  No ifs, ands, or buts.  Sometimes that comes across in his acting as disingenuous.  That wasn't the case in this movie.  He plays the single mom's uncle who is an ex-cop and loves his family.  He's been the main father figure for her and her son and it's obvious he really cares about them.  His characters is a little clueless but also incredibly sweet.

The single mom, played by Brooke Burns, isn't someone you cheer for but isn't annoying either.  Not like her son.  The boy in the movie was not adorable.  He was almost unnecessary, in fact.  The guy, played by incredibly good looking, Warren Christie, was almost as likable as Winkler.  He's a wanderer and hoping to win back his ex but feels drawn to this family too.  The best part of their love story is that the actors actually had chemistry.  They bickered and flirted and I believed it.

Still cheesy, still predictable, still terribly unoriginal but overall it's really one of the better ones.  You'd think I'd get tired of these, right?  Impossible.
