Today in Pop Culture History: Festivus for the rest of us!

23 December 1966-perpetuity: In an attempt to escape the religious and commercial pressures of the holiday season, pater familias Frank Costanza deemed this day "Festivus." Here's a quick primer:




The feats of strength! The unadorned aluminum pole! And my personal holiday favorite: the airing of grievances, where you spend Festivus dinner explaining to all your friends and family exactly how they've disappointed you in the previous year.
